Today is an exciting day! Not only smash fans found out who DLC Fighter # 5 is, but Capcom also released an update to Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition for Switch. As previously suspected, the title will get a new “style switching” system that better matches its sequels “Devil May Cry 4” and “Devil May Cry 5”. Prepare for crazy combo videos soon.

Style switching for DMC3 means that the game is now perfect

For those who don’t know, DMC3 has added styles to the series. Dante was able to use up to six different styles during his adventure, from modes like Swordmaster (increasing his melee attacks) to Royal Guard (increasing his defense). Players could only select one style at a time, either at the start of a mission or on a statue of divinity in the middle of one. The demon killer was able to change these styles later in DMC4 and DMC5 during operation. Now Capcom is adding this Free Style exclusively to the Switch version of 3.

Here you can see the free style in action:

Woo! With a push of a button on the D-Pad, Dante can change his combat preferences in seconds.

I am very happy that DMC3 has been updated in this way. Unfortunately I have 1-5 on PS4 and would rather not dive twice. Hopefully this mechanic will find his way to other consoles in the future.

The updated Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition will be digitally released for Switch on February 20, 2020. Players can pre-order them now for $ 19.99. North American players who pre-order will receive a 50% discount on purchases from Devil May Cry and / or Devil May Cry 2.

Other unannounced features will be discussed on January 30 and February 13, 2020. We’ll be sure to report back as soon as we have the details.
