Global Black Excellence: Ghanaian film and television directors meet American entertainment gurus at the ESSENCE Full Circle Festival

On the seventh and final day of the ESSENCE Full Circle Festival, attendees attended a day of service for the local Ghanaian community by spending the afternoon with various local nonprofits across five separately themed experiences. Experience topics related to youth promotion, women’s health, education and empowerment for girls, entrepreneurship, creative industries and leadership.

At the “Talks with Ghanaian Creative” session, EFCF participants took part in an interactive panel discussion in which leading and aspiring Ghanaian creative professionals from the television and film industry exchanged views.

The Ghanaian TV presenter and producer Ivy Prosper held an informative conversation with the Ghanaian directors Pascal Aka and Nana Kofi Asihene, who each reported on their experiences, challenges and findings.

The panel then engaged the EFCF participants, including the Spotify manager Chaka Zulu, Top class entertainer Doug E. Fresh, Entrepreneur and TV personality Yandy SmithHollywood Talent Agent Tracy Christian and celebrity hairdresser Kymm Causly, each offering insight and expertise in growing brands and growing audiences.

At the end of the panel, the group exchanged views on the importance of global collaboration between black creatives and gave feedback on possible next steps to promote future collaborations.
